DAFOMA - An Intervention to Provide Free Maternal Care and Prevent Maternal Mortality in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State. The goal of this project is to reduce the high rate of maternal mortality in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State , by providing free maternal care (antenatal, intrapatum, and post-partum care) for pregnant women in Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) in the locality.
Objectives of the project are as follows:
- To improve facilities for implementing maternal health services in three primary health centre (PHCs) in Edo Senatorial District of Eddo state.
- To test model for improving the referral of complicated obstetric cases from PHC in rural communities to secondary and tertiary health care facilities in urban areas and
- To increase awareness about maternal health among rural constituents necessary for mobilizing community support for effort to increase women’s access to evidence-based maternal services.
