Research conducted by the Women’s Health and Action Research Centre (WHARC) have shown that women die during pregnancy because of their inability to pay for quality maternity care. Many pregnant women in Edo state prefer to deliver at home or with traditional birth attendants because of high cost of services provided in hospitals and health centres across the state.
